Just For Laughs

When my sister and I stumbled upon this on the internet, we spent a good 10 mins laughing our hearts out. A directly translated sign board from a foreign country. I'm not too sure which country this one is from but I know there are so many funny signs out there. I couldn't help but laugh at all the signs that read "Parking at the Backside" in India. Usually sighted in front of restaurants, these signs are actually to indicate that there's a carpark behind the restaurant. Nice way to welcome guests eh? I don't mean to be insensitive, but it really tickles my funny bones and I bet yours too. Ever experienced a funny sign anywhere in Singpore? I saw one that read "No spitting" and there was a picture of a cartoon man vomitting. hahah! loved it.

Smile Like You Mean It

Picture this; While I walk against the flow of traffic(on a pathway beside it o' course), an old man, probably in his late 60s, cycles along the road, being the only thing in slow motion in the wee hours of the morning. As I rush to the bus stop, I peek sideways and see the old man give me a smile so sincere it reassures me that the day's going to be good. And they always would be.

This has happened many times ever since i started school at SIM. Smiling is so powerful you can make someone's day or someone's blog entry =) We all know just a little tweak could turn a smile horribly wrong. If it doesn't reach the eyes, it could be connoted to lying, being nervous, being insincere and many more.

There's this other old man who would bid me a good day if I pass him by on a staircase as he sweeps the leaves away. How nice can my neighbourhood get? It doesnt happen everyday but it has happened a good number of times for me to realize how much of an impact simple gestures could make.
Maybe we should all start today. How?

Global (War)ming

A video my friends and I made for our Television and Radio production module in MDIS, Mass Communications. It was a whole lot of fun but very tedious work. I guess you could say we adopted the cultivation theory of media. While watching the video, you might gradually realize it's a wake up call. If you listen to Dare You To Move by Switchfoot after this, you might think back about the video and remember that we dare you to move. It might not be effective rightaway but things that cause you to reflect on the video would slowly cultivate your mindset in a way we tried to persuade our audience. Save the world. =) Thoughts?
